This was our first view of Mt. Rainier (14, 411 feet). It really sticks out among the horizon because everything else is at sea level. It seems mammoth!! We were worried we weren't going to be able to see it because of the fog, but it did appear. It was magical.

There were some pretty neat tunnels to drive through.

Lots of pretty waterfalls.

This lake is called Reflection Lake. Apparently, when the lake is perfectly calm, you can see a reflection of Mt. Rainier. You can kind of see it in this picture.

We hiked a trail that led us up closer to the mountain. There was still lots of snow on the trail. This mountain is about the same altitude as Pikes Peak, but there was way more snow on this peak. The park rangers told us it was going to take us 2 hours to hike up and 1 hour down. Little did he know we are from Colorado and we hike mountains all the time. I think the entire round trip took us 1.5 hours!

So sweet! A litttle cool and cloudy yet, but still beautiful!

This was another waterfall. We actually saw a rainbow at the bottom of this one. You can kind of see it in the picture.

One last look at "The Mountain" as they call it in Washington.
You are so lucky! I would love to see the 'mountain'!
